AURORA, Ill. - The Rockford University golf team played in the final two rounds of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships on Sunday and Monday at Stonebridge Country Club in Aurora, Ill. Rounds one and two were played back in the fall at The Courses of Lawsonia in Green Lake, Wis. The Regents finished the Championships in ninth place overall and increased their lead by 22 strokes over the tenth place team from the fall.
Freshman Aren Boxleitner (Rockford, Ill.) had the lowest score for Rockford in both the third and fourth rounds. Boxleitner opened with a team-low 85 in round three on Sunday before firing a career-low round of 79 on Monday. He finished the tournament in tie for 35th place with a four-round score of +61.
Senior Justin Christiansen (Rockford, Ill.) played his final two rounds of collegiate golf over the past two days. Christiansen carded scores of 89 and 82 on Sunday and Monday respectively. He finished the NACC Championships in 25th place, improving 13 spots from last year.
Rockford's final two participants were Alex Schleich (Freeport, Ill.) and Anders Wermuth (Spring Green, Wis.). Schleich finished the conference championships in a tie for 41st place with third and fourth round scores of 108 and 100. Wermuth only played in the third and fourth rounds of the NACC Championships with scores of 88 and 84.
