WEST CHICAGO, Ill. - The Rockford University cross country teams finished their season on Saturday at the NACC Championships. Although Rockford was not able to record a team score on either the men's or the women's side, the Regents and multiple outstanding individual performances. Dominick Welte led the way with his All-NACC performance, while Ryan Sweeney and Luca Bartolo each also set new personal records in the 8k.
Men's Team
- Dominick Welte had the top finish of any Regent at the NACC Championships and was rewarded with his first All-NACC Selection. Welte finished in 14th place and set a new personal record with a time of 29:34.3. His 14th place finish is the highest finish for an RU men's cross country runner at the NACC Championships since 2014 (Tim Lydy, 11th place).
- Antoine Callebaut was the next Regent to cross the finish line. Callebaut completed the 8k race in 33:00.9 to finish in 26th place.
- Luca Bartolo finished in 31st place and set a new personal record by five seconds with a time of 33:36.5.
- Ryan Sweeney also set a new personal record on Saturday. Sweeney finished in 33rd place and set a new personal best by just under a minute with a time 33:48.1.
Women's Team
- Abigail Wagner was the top finisher on the women's team. Wagner placed 40th with a time of 32:54.7.
- Emily Teagardin was the other RU female to compete on Saturday. Teagardin finished in 43rd place with a time of 34:50.3.
The RU cross country teams are set to compete in a trio of track meets this spring. The first of which is on Saturday, April 3 at Millikin University.
