Regents Run at Bradley University Invite

PEORIA, Ill. - The Rockford University men's and women's cross country teams traveled south on Friday afternoon for one final tune-up prior to competing at the NACC Championship in two weeks. Friday's races at Bradley University saw Rockford competing against a field primarily composed of NCAA Division I schools, along with some of the top NCAA Division III programs in the country. The women's 6k race had 22 schools record a team score and featured a field of 190 participants, while the men's 8k race saw 18 schools qualify for a team score and had 185 runners. The RU men's team finished in 18th place and the RU women's team finished 21st.

Women's Results
  • Rebekah Starwalt was the top finisher for the RU women's team. Starwalt finished in 118th place with a time of 25:58.4
  • Caitlin Bitunjac crossed the finish line in 26:36.6 to place 135th. 
  • Abigail Wagner completed the race in 31:02.8 and finished in 173rd place.
  • Jennifer Ruesch set a new personal record by over five minutes. Ruesch finished the race in 38:43.8 and placed 189th.
  • Nopparat Chiangtong completed Rockford's team score with a 190th place finish and a time of 39:01.3.
Men's Results
  • Dominick Welte had the highest finish of any Regent on Friday and also set a new personal best by nearly 52 seconds. Welte crossed the finish line in 28:25.5 to place 115th.
  • Juan Estrada set a new personal record in the 8k by over 51 seconds. Estrada finished in 118th place with a time of 28:28.4.
  • Michael Serna lowered his personal best time by over 1 minute and 30 seconds. Serna completed the race in 28:53.4 and finished in 130th place.
  • Ryan Sweeney finished in 159th place with a time of 31:16.7.
  • Scarlet Torrisi set a new personal best time by over 3 minutes. Torrisi placed 162nd with a time of 31:38.0.
