Brian Vanden Acker was named the Assistant Director of Athletics for Athletic Communications and Finance in July of 2019. Prior to that, Vanden Acker served as the University's sports information director since September of 2011. He is the main contact and is responsible for the promotion of all 12 intercollegiate sports sponsored by Rockford. Vanden Acker also handles recording statistics for all home events as well as game management. Additionally, he is in charge of managing the website along and social media pages, along with disseminating all information to the media. In 2021, Vanden Acker also oversaw Rockford's website transition to SIDEARM Sports, the premiere collegiate website vendor.Â
Prior to becoming becoming the Sports Information Director, Brian served as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Rockford University for three years. He also worked in the sports information office all four years as an undergraduate student at Rockford. Vanden Acker, a native of Appleton, Wis., got his first experience in the field of sports information back in high school as he helped out in the sports information office at Lawrence University, where his uncle is the Director of Athletic Media Relations.
During the summers of 2009 and 2010, Vanden Acker served as the official scorer for the Rockford RiverHawks of the Frontier League. In addition, each summer Vanden Acker works in media relations at the Division III Baseball Championships in Appleton, Wis.
Vanden Acker received his bachelor's degree in accounting in 2008 and his master's degree in business administration with a marketing focus in 2011 from Rockford University. Vanden Acker is a member of the College Sports Communicators and currently resides in Loves Park, Ill.
