Freshman Joseph Valdez (Tucson, Ariz.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending April 17, 2016. Valdez turned in a pair of quality starts for Rockford last week. He began by throwing 8 shutout innings against Wisconsin Lutheran allowing just 4 hits and striking out 10 hitters to pick up the win. Valdez then went 7 innings on Saturday against Dominican allowing 1 earned run on 3 hits while striking out 6 to earn his second win in five days. For the week he went 2-0 with a 0.60 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 15 innings.
