Loras Snaps Rockford's 4-Game Winning Streak

DUBUQUE, Iowa - After a difficult 0-4 start to the season, the Regents seemed to have righted the ship over the past few weeks to even their record at 4-4 heading into Sunday's game at the Loras College Duhawks. The Duhawks entered the matchup with a 3-4 record this season having just won the previous day 82-57 against Principia. Entering the game, the Regents were 3-6 against Loras with Rockford winning the most recent meeting 68-59 in December of 2003.

Both teams got off to a slow start early in the first half before Loras took control of the game. With the score tied 9-9 and 13 minutes remaining before halftime, the Duhawks exploded on a 16-0 run to equal their largest lead of the half. Rockford was never able to recover as Loras led by double-digits for the remainder of the game and sailed to an 82-56 victory.

Junior Scott Suchy (Genoa, Ill./Genoa-Kingston) was one of the bright spots for Rockford in the loss. Suchy scored a game-high 23 points on 7-14 shooting to bring his season average up to 20.1 points per game. Suchy is now second in the NAC in points per game.

Senior Grant Olsen (DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb) and junior Arthur Miller IV (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) also contributed despite the loss. Olsen was the other Regent to score in double-figures with 10 points. The senior also added 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Miller dropped in 7 points with 6 rebounds and 2 steals in the loss.

The Regents will return to the court on Thursday, December 20th when they hit the road to play the Univesity of Saint Francis. Rockford has a 3-4 record in the series and lost last season's meeting 78-75 at home. Tip-off on Thursday is set for 3:00 p.m.
