ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Regents women's soccer team is still searching for their first win of the season after falling to Benedictine on the road 4-0. Benedictine got on the board midway through the first half to take a 1-0 lead against the Regents and never looked back. The Eagles would add another goal in the first half and 2 more in the second half for the 4-0 win.
Rockford's defense kept them in the game but the Regents offense was unable to find the back of the net against Benedictine. Leading the Regents defense was freshmen goalkeeper Catherine Holesha (Marengo/Marengo Community). Holesha finished with a game high 14 saves and kept the game close for the Regents. Junior Laura Bustos (Island Lake, Ill./Wauconda) recorded the Regents lone 2 shots with 1 shot on goal.
The Regents fell to Benedictine last season 13-1 and have dropped the last 7 to the Eagles with the Regents last win coming 1-0 on 10/11/2005 on the road. The Regents next match will be at 1 p.m on Saturday, September 22 at Sam Greeley Field when the Regents will welcome MSOE in a Northern Athletics Conference match
