GRINNELL, Iowa - The volleyball team wrapped up its final two matches at the Grinnell College Tournament on Saturday. After an exciting 5-set win on Friday evening, the ladies returned to the court on Saturday looking to keep the momentum going. However, it was not meant to be as the Regents lost both matches on Saturday. In its first match, Rockford fell 3-0 to Central College and dropped its afternoon match to Coe College, 3-0.
It was a difficult day on Saturday for Rockford coming off playing a grueling match on Friday that went late into the night. Senior Nicole Lawler (Pearl City, Ill./Pearl City) recorded her third straight double-double and forth of the season in the morning match. Lawler led the Regents attack against Central College recording a team-high 10 kills, 12 digs and 3 blocks. For her outstanding play during the two-day tournament, Lawler was named to the All-Tournament Team. Freshman setter Emily Johnson (Santee, Calif./Santana) also had a double-double for Rockford on Saturday. Johnson tallied 13 assists and 12 digs in the Regents afternoon match against Coe College.
The Regents volleyball team returns to action next Thursday, September 27th when they hit the road to play Carroll University. The match is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
