ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford College women's soccer team fell to Maranatha Baptist Bible College 8-1 in Northern Athletic Conference play at Sam Greeley Field Friday. Maranatha jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead midway through the first half and never looked back. The Crusaders would tack on 2 more goals before the Regents would respond with their only goal of the day with 3 minutes remaining in the 2nd half. The Crusaders would add one final goal in the closing seconds for the 8-1 victory.
Rockford's lone goal came from freshmen Bridgette Johnson (Pecatonica/Winnebago) late in the 2nd half as she found the back of the net off a deflection from the Crusader goalkeeper. Sophomore Callie Schmidt (Rockford/Jefferson) was able to record 2 shots on goal for the Regents in the loss.
The Regents will return to action on October 3rd as they play host to the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors at 4 p.m. at Sam Greeley Field.
