The Regents opened up the 1st half with a 15-3 run midway through the half. Suchy started the run at the free throw line, sinking both attempts for Rockford while junior forward David Dixon (Bellwood, Ill./St. Joseph) capped off the run with thunderous one-handed dunk off a Cougar turnover giving Rockford a 29-17 lead. Rockford entered the half with a 40-34 lead. Rockford went 7-16 from the 3-point line while forcing 12 Cougar turnovers.

The Regents opened the half with a 18-7 run pushing the lead to 59-41. The Cougars stormed back to make it a eight point game with 2:26 minutes remaining in the game. Suchy would hold off the Cougars scoring 6 of the last 8 Regent points as the Regents cruised to a 78-64 victory.
