ROCKFORD, Ill.- The Rockford University women's soccer team took on Marian University for the opening game of Rockford's homecoming weekend. The Regents battled hard all game but it ended up being another tough loss. Marian came away with the 5-0 victory at Sam Greeley Field.
Rockford's outstanding freshman goalie, Alyssa Nicholson (Braidwood, Ill./Reed-Custer) was knocked out early in the first half after a Sabre player collided with her. She cameback later in the half and provided a spark on offense finishing with 3 shots, all on goal. Freshman defender Mercedes Ball (Valley Springs, Calif./Calaveras) stepped up big in goal in place of Nicholson, recording three saves in 70 minutes.
The Regents have the opportunity to rebound quickly as they go on the road to play Maranatha Baptist Bible College at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, October 14th. They then return home for their next three games on October 18th, October 20th, and October 22nd. Rockford's last game of the season is on October 30th.
