ROCKFORD, Ill.- The Rockford University volleyball conference schedule allowed them the opportunity to rebound quickly from a tough Friday night home loss to Lakeland College and they did just that. They faced Marian University bright and early at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Seaver Center. The Regents continued their tough play from the previous night and came away with their first conference win of the year, winning the mach in four sets.
The first three games of the match were all nail biters. Rockford outlasted Marian in the first game 25-23. They won another close game in the second set 25-22. Marian took the third set 25-23. The Regents closed out the match in dominating fashion, winning 25-12.
Katelyn Hasken (Lanark, Ill./Eastland) continued her amazing week finishing with a match high 22 kills on 49 attempts with only 2 attack errors. She added in 17 digs. Her 22 kills were also a season high for her. Heather Hyland (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) added 12 kills and 13 digs and had a huge game in the forth set for the Regents. Taylor Rossi (Ingleside, Ill./Grant Community) continued to show that she is one of the better freshman in the conference as she finished with a season high 47 assists. She had a great all around game as she also contributed 9 kills, 9 digs, and 5 block assists.
Rockford plays next at home against Wisconsin Lutheran on October 23rd at 7 p.m. Their last game of the year and Senior day is against Benedictine University on October 26th at 1 p.m.
