ROCKFORD, Ill.- The Rockford University men's soccer team had a tough task at home Saturday afternoon as they took on the Dominican University Stars. Earlier this year Dominican lost their first conference game since 2006 (they went 85-0-3). The Regents more than held there own throughout the game and the game was never out of reach for the Regents. Despite the tough battle, Rockford fell to Dominican 5-1.

There was no scoring in the game until the 21:09 mark when Dominican scored a goal off of a corner kick. They then put another ball into the back of the net at the 39:05 mark from seven yards out. That was all of the scoring for the first half. Dominican quickly scored what seemed to be a key goal at the 48:11 mark. Rockford answered seven minutes later when they scored a goal on a free kick ten yards off of the Dominican goalie box. The goal came off the left foot of junior defender Tyler Burg (Cherry Valley, Ill./Jefferson). It was his first goal of the season. Dominican outlasted Rockford as they put the game out of reach with goals at the 79 and the 89 minute marks. The Regents faced a tough offensive opponent and the entire team played great defense. The defense was led by sophomore goalie Chris Kunde (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) who had 10 saves and faced a total of 36 shots and 15 corners.

The Regents have four games left on the season. Their next three games are all on the road starting with Aurora on October 22nd at 2 p.m. Their last home game of the year is on October 29th at 3 p.m. against Concordia Chicago.
