ROCKFORD, Ill.- The Rockford University men's soccer team took Sam Greeley field for the final time of the 2013 when the Concordia University Chicago Cougars came to town. It was also the final time for four Regents. Sam Medina-Conchi (Milwaukee, Wis./Ronald Reagan) has been a player for the team since 2009 and scored six goals in his career. Diego Ramos (Chicago, Ill./Jefferson) has played for the Regents since 2010 and scored five goals in his career. Antonio Richardson (Chicago, Ill./Jefferson) played two seasons for the Regents and led the team in minutes played in 2012. Juan Carlos Virgen (Chicago, Ill./Jefferson) only played on the team for one year and he recorded a hat trick against Crown this season. Medina-Conchi and Ramos were both team captains.
The game itself did not turn out in favor of Rockford. Concordia Chicago and Rockford played to a 0-0 tie through the first half. The Cougars opened their scoring run with a quick second half goal at the 46:15 mark. Six minutes later they scored their first of three goals in the span of the next two minutes. The four goal run in less than ten minutes was too much to overcome for the Regents. It was a tough game as each team was handed three yellow cards a piece and a total of 33 fouls occurred. Rockford had many scoring chances as they finished with 12 shots and 2 on goal. Medina-Conchi finished with five shots and Ramos led the team with two shots on goal.
The game ends a trying season for a young Rockford University men's soccer team. They finished the season 0-18 and 0-10 in the NACC.
