MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Rockford University women's soccer team neared the midpoint of its conference season on Saturday afternoon when it went on the road to play the Alverno College Inferno. Despite the horrible weather and a 90-minute lightning delay, the two schools were able to get the match in with the Inferno defeating the Regents 5-1.
Rockford's goal came in the 90th minute of the match when sophomore Christine Hermann (Tinley Park, Ill./Tinley Park) found the back of the net on a shot from five yards out. It was Hermann's second goal of the season.
Rockford University goalie Alyssa Nicholson (Braidwood, Ill./Reed-Custer) made nine more saves on Saturday to bring her season total to 91. Nicholson ranks second in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference in saves and is just seven saves behind the conference leader.
The women's soccer team will be back in action on October 8th at home against Concordia University Wisconsin. The match is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
