ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's soccer team opened Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play on Saturday against the Lakeland College Muskies. After a slow start to the season, the Regents have been playing better recently losing two of their last three matches by a combined total of two goals. Rockford hoped to keep that momentum going on Saturday as it looked for its first win of the season.

The Regents really played well the entire match except for two, two-minute stretches in the first half. The Muskies took advantage scoring two goals in each of those two-minute stretches to take a 4-0 lead into halftime. After the intermission the Regents came out and played probably their best half of the season. Rockford did not allow a goal in the second half and scored a goal of its own to cut into Lakeland's lead. Junior Danika Mollway (Rockford, Ill./Harlem) found the back of the net in the 79th minute of the match. The goal was Mollway's first of the season. Regents goalie Alyssa Nicholson (Braidwood, Ill./Reed-Custer) had 9 saves including a perfect 3 for 3 in the second half. Despite Rockford's best effort it was not enough as Rockford fell 4-1 to Lakeland. 

The women's soccer team hits the road on September 24th to face the MSOE Raiders. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
