ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's basketball team fell 94-72 on the road Thursday night to the Aurora University Spartans. The Regents got off to a horrible start falling behind 9-0 less then 3 minutes into the game and were never able to recover. Junior John O'Bryan (Richmond, Ky.) temporarily pulled the Regents back within 8 with 13:56 remaining the first half after scoring 5 consecutive points. However, the Spartans quickly asserted themselves again by going on a 7-0 run and never looked back. Aurora led by as many as 24 in the first half and 29 in the second as the Regents were never really able to threaten for the remainder of the game.
Junior forward Jerry Pratt (Minneapolis, Minn.) was the leading scorer for the second time this season for the Regents. Pratt poured in 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting. He also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the year.
Brandon Tyson (Joliet, Ill.) also played well off the bench for Rockford. Tyson had a season-high 14 points on an impressive 6-of-7 shooting.
Junior Trae Blumhorst (Mendota, Ill.) had very good all-around game against the Spartans. Blumhorst cracked double-digits for the third time this season with 11 points. He also added 6 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals.
John O'Bryan was the final player to hit the double-digit scoring plateau as he scored 14 points along with getting 6 rebounds and 2 assists.
The men's basketball team will be back in action on Saturday, December 6 at Marian University. The Regents and Sabres have a scheduled start time of 4:15 p.m.
