NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The men's soccer team concluded its two-day road trip on Sunday with a match against Carleton College. The Regents and Knights battled back and forth in the first half before Carleton eventually pulled away early in the second for the 5-1 win.
The two schools played an excellent first half of soccer as the Regents and Knights traded goals for the opening 45 minutes of action. Carleton got the scoring started just over one minute into the match to grab a quick 1-0 advantage. The score remained 1-0 until the 34th minute when the Regents struck back. Junior Adam Seiter (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) scored his second goal of the season off a pretty pass in transition from sophomore Alexander Johnson (Fargo, N.D./South) to knot the match at 1-1. However, Carleton answered back with less than four minutes remaining the first half to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Carleton took control of the match early in the second half scoring a pair of goals in the opening 11 minutes. The Knights added another late goal as the Regents fell by a 5-1 final.
Freshman goalkeeper Kyle Adams (St. Louis, Mo./Timberland) faced 16 shots on the day recording 12 saves. Adams' 36 saves through Rockford's first four games is by far the most in the NACC this season.
The men's soccer team will hit the road again next Saturday, September 13th to play MacMurray. The match has a scheduled start time of 1 PM.
