ROCKFORD, Ill.- The Rockford University women's basketball team has played well at home as of late, winning its previous two home games by ten points each against Beloit College and Marian University. Saturday afternoon would be a tougher game for the Regents. The visiting Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons came into the game in third place in the NACC with a conference record of 8-3. Rockford's offense could not find its rhythm throughout the game and fell to the Falcons 71-42.
Rockford had a similar first and second half. The Regents were held to 20 points in the first half and 22 points in the second half. Turnovers were a problem in both halves with 15 coming in the first half and 14 coming in the second half. Rockford shot 39% in the first half and just 29% in the second half, but made up for the drop in percentage by making 12-of-14 free throws in the second half. Concordia Wisconsin was held to 40% shooting for the game, only six percentage points better than the Regents, but they made 12 more shots than the Regents throughout the game.
Two Regents scored in double-digits. Diamond Williams (Carpentersville, Ill.) led Rockford with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting. She finished with five rebounds, two assists, three steals, and a block for a solid overall game. Katie Clark (Rock City, Ill.) was the other Regent to score in double-digits with ten. She added in four rebounds and had one block.
Also having an all around solid game was Mallorie Getzelman (Byron, Ill.) who scored seven points on 2-of-3 shooting and she made 3-of-4 free throws. She also had five rebounds, an assist, and two steals. Callie Rezin (Rockford, Ill.) finished with four points and three steals.
Rockford continues its season at home on January 20 at 7:00 p.m. against Dominican.
