ROCKFORD, Ill.- A poor shooting half once again doomed the Rockford University men's basketball team. The Regents were able to only score 24 points in the first half, but rebounded to score 51 points in the second half. Rockford's defense could not hold back the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons in the second half in order to mount a comeback. The Regents fell to the Falcons 100-75 in a high scoring, fast paced game.
The Regents shot well from the floor and finished shooting 46% for the game. They also out rebounded the Falcons 40 to 37. Rockford found its groove in the second half, shooting 56% for the half and making 12-of-18 free throws.
Two Regents scored in double-digit points for the game. Brandon Tyson (Joliet, Ill.) scored ten points on 3-of-6 shooting. He added in five rebounds. Also in double-digit scoring was Trae Blumhorst (Mendota, Ill.) with15. All 15 of his points came in the second half. He finished with seven rebounds, an assist, two steals, and a block.
Also contributing on offense was Zach Wallace (Rockford, Ill.) with eight points and six rebounds.Kenny Parks (Mascoutah, Ill.) and John O'Bryan (Richmond, Ky.) both scored nine points. O'Bryan finished with five rebounds, five assists, and a steal. Rounding out the offensive attack was Ross Arteaga (Mendota, Ill.) with seven points. Nicolas Ramos (Litchfield, Ariz.) and Hunter Blake (Belvidere, Ill.) each scored five points off the bench.
Rockford's next game is on January 21 at Concordia Chicago at 7:00 p.m. The Regents next home game is at 4:15 p.m. on January 24 against Lakeland.
