DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Rockford University volleyball team fell 3-0 to the University of Dubuque on Thursday night in its final nonconference match of the season. 

The Regents struggled in the opening two sets of the match before giving the Spartans all they could handle in the final set of the evening. Rockford and Dubuque traded points in the early moments of the third set with each team leading on multiple occasions. However, it was the Spartans who were able to string together five consecutive points and jump out to an 8-4 advantage. The lead hovered around four points until the Regents battled back and tied the set up at 14-14. Unfortunately Dubuque once again answered as the Spartans scored six of the next seven points en route to winning the third set and the match.

Freshman Alex Storey (Dexter, Mich.) and junior Taylor Rossi (Ingleside, Ill.) were the top offensive performers for Rockford. Storey led the Regents with 7 kills while Rossi recorded a team-high 16 assists and 7 digs. 

Defensively Rockford had a pair of individuals crack double-figures in digs. Sophomore Madison Lanquist (Rockford, Ill.) and junior Katie Fowler (Stillman Valley, Ill.) tied for the team-high with 13 digs each. 

The RU volleyball team returns to action on Saturday, October 10 at home against Aurora University. The Regents and Spartans will begin their match at 6 p.m. in the Seaver Center.
