ROCKFORD, Ill.- Tuesday night marked the final game of the 2014-2015 season for the Rockford University women's basketball team. It also marked the final game for two seniors who played their final two seasons of colligate basketball at Rockford. Visiting Rockford was the second place team in the conference, the Benedictine University Eagles. The Regents hung close in the first half, finding themselves down by just four points at 25-21. But the Eagles pulled away in the second half for the 67-52 victory.
Guard Callie Rezin (Rockford, Ill.) played in 50 games in her two season and started 37 of those games. She averaged 5.8 points per game and shot 37% from the field. Rezin also shot 28% behind the three-point line and 73% at the free throw line. A tough defender, Rezin averaged 1.8 steals per game in her Regent career and she also recovered 3.0 rebounds per game. She played the role of guard well, averaging 2.5 assists per game in her career.
A force off the bench and in the front court for two years, Katie Clark (Rock City, Ill.) boasts an impressive Regent basketball career. Despite starting just three games in her 48 career games, Clark made a huge impact on both sides of the court. She averaged 10.4 points per game in her career and 12.8 in her senior season. She also shot an outstanding 59% from the field for her career. In addition, she averaged 6.5 rebounds in her 48 career games and 7.9 rebounds per game this season. Clark did this despite averaging just 15.5 minutes per game. She currently leads the NACC in points per 40 minutes with 26.7.
Ending her career on a solid note, Clark led the Regents with 21 points and 11 rebounds. She made 8-of-12 shots and 5-of-6 free throws. Rezin scored six points and had two steals. Also scoring six points were Diamond Williams (Carpentersville, Ill.) and Amanda Davis (Mundelein, Ill.). Williams added in seven rebounds, two assists, and three blocks. Davis had four assists and two steals.
The Regents finish the season with a 6-19 record and a 5-15 conference record.
