INDIANOLA, Iowa - The men's soccer team completed its two-day trip to Iowa on Saturday with a match against the Simpson College Storm. Rockford played well defensively allowing just two goals but was unable to get anything going on offense. The Regents were outshot 29-3 including 15-2 in shots on goal and ultimately fell by a final score of 2-0.
Simpson scored one goal in each half with both coming at almost the exact same point in each half. Simpson's first goal came in the ninth minute of the match to give the Storm an early lead. The game would remain 1-0 until the Storm struck again, this time in the eighth minute of the second half to take a 2-0 advantage. Unfortunately Rockford was unable to find the back of the net the entire afternoon as the Regents fell by a 2-0 final.
Rockford goalkeeper Anthony Beck (Fishers, Ind.) played well despite the loss. Beck made 11 saves in early 80 minutes in goal on Saturday. The freshman currently leads the NACC with 15 saves thus far this season.
The men's soccer team will return to action on Wednesday, September 9 at home against Blackburn College. The match has a scheduled start time of 4 p.m. at Sam Greeley Field.
