SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - The Rockford University women's basketball team was unable to get anything going in Saturday's game against the Lakeland College Muskies. The ladies fell behind early and simply were never able to recover. The Muskies opened the game on a 12-0 run and never looked back as Rockford trailed 18-7 at the end of the first quarter and 43-19 at halftime. Things did not improve much in the second half as Rockford was outscored 40-23 and fell by a final score of 83-42.
A bright spot in the game on Saturday was the outstanding play of junior Mallorie Getzelman (Byron, Ill.). Getzelman poured in 20 points on an impressive 6-of-12 shooting performance. She knocked down all four of Rockford's three-pointers going 4-for-7 from beyond the arc. Getzelman then rounded out her day with a team-high 8 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 assist and 0 turnovers.
The Rockford University women's basketball team returns to the court on Tuesday, January 19 at Dominican University. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
