MEQUON, Wis. - The Rockford University softball team dropped a pair of road games on Sunday to the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons. The Regents played well for parts of the day, but were unable to avoid the big inning as the Falcons won both games by final scores of 12-1 and 11-0.
In the opener, the Falcons scored five in the first and seven in the fourth to account for all twelve of their runs. Rockford's lone run of the game came in the third inning when the Regents tallied 3 of their 5 hits. Sophomore Alex Storey (Dexter, Mich.) accounted for all of Rockford's scoring as she belted her second home run of the season. The Regents followed with singles by Lisa Blakeley-Snyder (Winnebago, Ill.) and Caitlin Eiben (Racine, Wis.) to give Rockford runners on first and second with just one out. Unfortunately the ladies was unable to add any additional runs and fell by a final of 12-1.
The second game followed a similar pattern as the Falcons used a pair of 5-run innings to set the tone. Rockford's best scoring opportunity came in the top of fifth as junior Stefaney Kenworthy (Veedersburg, Ind.) led off the inning with a double. Unfortunately the Falcons were able to retire the next three batters in order en route to an 11-0 win.
The RU softball team returns to the diamond on Tuesday, April 26 at Maranatha Baptist University. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3:00 PM.
