Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lexie Collins' Four Goals Leads Rockford to Victory

EUREKA, Ill. - The Rockford University women's soccer team returned to its winning ways on Monday afternoon with an impressive 7-2 road win over the Eureka College Red Devils. Rockford dominated the entire match taking 24 shots with 13 of them coming on goal as the Regents were never really in danger of losing.

Rockford's Lexie Collins (Earlville, Ill.) jump-started the Rockford offense as she scored a pair of goals in just over a four-minute span to give the Regents a quick 2-0 lead. Eureka would answer with a goal of its own before Rockford responded with a trio of goals by Ali Moore (Mascoutah, Ill.), Lexie Collins and Victoria Rodgers (Bakersfield, Calif.) to take a 5-1 lead entering halftime.

The Regents would put the game out of reach early in the second half with two more goals to take an insurmountable 7-1 advantage. It was once again Lexie Collins who got the scoring started with her fourth goal of the match and her team-leading eighth goal of the season. Rockford's final goal of the day came in the 75th minute from Melissa Macias (East Moline, Ill.) as the Regents cruised to an easy 7-2 victory.

Rockford had multiple excellent individual performances on Monday. Sophomore Lexie Collins had an amazing afternoon taking 10 shots, with eight of them coming on goal, scoring four goals and tallying one assist. Ali Moore also had an excellent day scoring one goal and recording a team-high 3 assists.

The RU women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, October 1 at Mount Mary University. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM.
