ROCKFORD, Ill.- The Rockford University men's soccer team returned to action Monday to take on Bethany Lutheran College at Sam Greeley field. The Regents have enjoyed a successful opening week by winning both of their first two contests. Rockford was able to add another one to the win column taking care of Bethany Lutheran by the final of 4-0.

The Regents did not take long to take the lead as they scored within the first nine minutes of the game. The goal came on a header from Todd Alberts (Davenport, Iowa) off an outstanding free kick pass from Erik Manriquez (Rockford, Ill.). The goal was Alberts' first in a Regent uniform. Rockford added to their lead in the 21st minute when Brandon Oeltjenbruns (Arvada, Colo.) put one past the goalkeeper off of another Manriquez pass. Once more in the first half the Regents added to their lead when Jose Magallanes (Crest Hill, Ill.) scored from 10 yards out in the 43rd minute. Again, the assist came from Manriquez off of a wonderful through ball. With the goal, Rockford took the lead 3-0 into the half. In the second half, the Regents added some insurance off of yet another Oeltjenbruns goal in the 48th minute. Rockford coasted the rest of the second half to the final score of 4-0.
