RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team dropped its fifth straight game on Tuesday 92-62 to the Concordia University Chicago Cougars. The Cougars sprinted out of the gates with an 11-0 run to start the game and did not looked back. Rockford was never able to get into the game as the Regents trailed by as many as 47 points before ultimately falling to the Cougars.
Offensively the Regents had a trio of players crack double-figures. Freshman Taylor May (East Moline, Ill.) once again led the Rockford offense with a team-high 20 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block. May has now scored at least 20 points in nine games this season including five straight. Junior Nicole Silvers (Byron, Ill.) hit the double-digit scoring plateau for the ninth time this season with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Senior Mallorie Getzelman (Byron, Ill.) scored 12 points on Tuesday to inch closer to 1,000 for her career. Getzelman is now just 20 points shy of becoming only the eleventh RU women's basketball player to reach 1,000 career points.
The RU women's basketball team returns to the court on Saturday, January 28 at MSOE. Tip-off is set for 2:00 PM in the Kern Center.
