The Regents Drop Two Against The Warriors

ROCKFORD, Ill.- The Rockford University softball team returned to action today to take on the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup. The Regents were searching for their first victory of the conference season. Unfortunately, Rockford was unable to do so falling by the finals of 4-0 and 8-0.

In game one Stefaney Kenworthy (Veedersburg, Ind.) started on the bump. Kenworthy was outstanding holding the Warriors scoreless through the first six innings. Unfortunately, a couple of Regent errors with two outs in the seventh inning led to four unearned runs off of Kenworthy. She threw a complete game allowing four runs, zero earned, on 10 hits. She threw her seventh complete game of the season.

Rockford and Wisconsin Lutheran were stuck in a pitcher's duel throughout the entire game. Both teams were unable to cash in on any opportunities in the game as the score was 0-0 after six innings. Ultimately, the Warriors were able to take advantage of a couple of Regent errors in the seventh inning to score all four runs and prevail by the final of 4-0.

In game two, Wisconsin Lutheran was able to score four runs in both the third and sixth innings to win by the final of 8-0 after six innings. Rockford had their best scoring opportunity come in the sixth inning when they had runners on first and second with nobody out. Ultimately, the Warriors were able to hold the Regents in check to prevail.

Both Abigail Wellwood (Rockford, Ill.) and Brooke Burris (Galatia, Ill.) combined to throw all six innings in the second game.

Leading the Regents offensively was Stefaney Kenworthy going 3-for-6 on the day. Lisa Blakeley-Snyder (Winnebago, Ill.) went 2-for-4 with a walk.

The RU softball team returns to action tomorrow, Saturday, April 8 to take on Aurora University at the Smith Athletic Field with a scheduled start time of 12 p.m.
