LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team (8-9-2, 3-6-1 NACC) celebrated its senior night with a victory over the Lakeland University Muskies (3-14-0, 0-10-0 NACC) on Saturday night. Rockford honored its eight seniors who are as follows: Kevin Alberts (Davenport, Iowa), Bailey Beard (Rockford, Ill.), Anthony Beck (Fishers, Ind.), Jose Cruz (Moline, Ill.), Cruz Marquez (Arvada, Colo.), Fernando Mercado (Harvard, Ill.), Brandon Oeltjenbruns (Arvada, Colo.) and Luis Ortega (Rockford, Ill.). Despite the scoreless tie at half Rockford controlled the tempo. The flood gates opened for the Regents in the second half as they went on to score four and secure the 4-0 victory.
- In the first half Rockford outshot Lakeland 12-3.
- Of those 12 shots eight were on target but RU could not come away with a goal as it went into half tied 0-0.
- The second half was a much different story as it only took 8 minutes for the Regents to get on the board.
- Alonzo Carrillo (Harvard, Ill.) found Simeon Adesina (Plainfield, Ill.) whose shot deflected off a defender and beat the keeper to give RU a 1-0 lead.
- Rockford continued to apply pressure as it outshot the Muskies 16-2 in the second half.
- It paid off in the 76' as Carrillo played a perfect ball across the box to a wide-open Carlos Montes (Waukesha, Wis.) who tapped it in from 5 yards out to increase the Rockford lead to two.
- In the 81st minute it was Carrillo who found himself on the scoring end this time.
- Senior Brandon Oeltjenbruns dribbled through defenders and laid it off to Carrillo who smashed the ball from 25 yards out over the keeper to extend the Regent lead to 3-0.

- With under a minute in the game senior Kevin Alberts stole the show.
- Alberts took a touch and ripped a laser from 35 yards out that dipped over the keeper for his first ever collegiate goal.

- Rockford took the match by a final score of 4-0.
- Senior Anthony Beck recorded his third win on the year good enough for a team-high 3 shutouts.
- Simeon Adesina, Carlos Montes and Alonzo Carrillo each with a goal tonight are now all tied for a team-high 6 goals on the year.
- Carrillo's 2 assists on the night gives him a team-high 5 assists on the season. Carrillo also leads the team with 17 points after tonight's 4-point performance.
- Brandon Oeltjenbruns now has 4 assists on his senior season.
- Kevin Alberts had his ideal senior night scoring a beautiful goal which was also his first ever collegiate goal.
- With the win over the Muskies the Regents now have their most wins over NACC opponents since joining the conference.
- Rockford's 8 wins so far this season are the most since the 2001 season.
The Rockford University men's soccer team wraps up its season on Wednesday, October 24 when it hosts Concordia Wisconsin at Sportscore Two. The match is scheduled for 7 PM.
