ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team (4-9, 0-2 NACC) fell to the MSOE Raiders (6-8, 1-1 NACC) at home on Tuesday night. Rockford fought hard, but the Raiders poured it on with scores of 25-19, 25-14 and 25-12 to seal the 3-0 victory.
- The first set started out highly contested as neither team gained any ground.
- Rockford's largest lead would be by two when it had a 16-14 lead.
- The fight ensued as it was all tied up at 19-19.
- Unfortunately, the Raiders pulled away scoring six straight points to take a 1-0 lead.
- The Raiders used that momentum to take a 5-2 lead in the second set.
- The Regents came rallying back to make it an 8-8 game.
- Rockford saw itself down 14-11 before MSOE went on another six-point run to take a commanding 20-12 lead.
- Rockford was never able to crawl back as it dropped 2-0 to the Raiders.
- The third set again was closely contested in the begging as MSOE was up by a narrow margin of 10-9.
- Another run by the Raiders propelled them to a 17-10 lead and eventually went on to win 25-12 to secure the victory in three straight sets.
- Emily Johannes (Eau Claire, Wis.) finished with a team-high 7 kills.
- Johannes also ended the night with 7 digs.
- Casey Sheetz (Rockford, Ill.) led the attack with 20 assists while also adding 7 digs.
- Jennifer Quintas (Rockford, Ill.) tallied a team-high 9 digs.
- Maddison Hiland (Bellevue, Iowa) recorded 6 kills, 5 digs and 2 total blocks.
- The Rockford University women's volleyball team returns to action when it travels to take on Edgewood on Saturday, September 22. The match has a scheduled start time of 12:00 PM.
