ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team (4-11-1, 1-6-0 NACC) fell to Aurora University (9-4-0, 7-0-0 NACC) 6-1. A strong showing by Rockford's defense kept it a 1-0 score going into the second half. Carlos Montes scored a goal for the Regents late in the second half hoping to spark a come back. Unfortunately, the Spartans tacked on five more goals in the second half to put the match out of reach, winning 6-1.
- Aurora took initiative, scoring the first goal of the match in the 16th minute coming from Julio Acosta.
- Rockford's tough defense fought hard, not allowing another goal from the Spartans in the first half.
- However, the Spartans came out firing in the second half scoring four goals in the 54th, 59th, 69th, and 71st minutes of the match, increasing the lead to 5-0.
- The Regents Carlos Montes put Rockford on the board when he found the back of the net in the 81st minute with an assist from Armando Trujillo, closing the gap 5-1.
- The Spartans scored one more goal in the 82nd minute to win 6-1.
The RU men's soccer team returns to the field on Saturday, October 19 at home against Marian University. The match has a scheduled start time of 3 PM at Wedgbury Stadium.
