ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team (6-17, 0-9 NACC) lost 3-0 to Lakeland University (12-12, 6-1 NACC). Rockford kept pace with the Muskies for most of the first set, until the end losing 25-20. The Muskies took the next two sets 25-11 and 25-19.
- The Regents kept it close early in the first set. A powerful kill from Paige Carpenter tied the Muskies 5-5.
- Rockford put together a 5-2 point run, taking a 10-9 lead over Lakeland. Kills by Della Crain and Nicole Eggers helped lead the charge for the Regents.
- Unfortunately, Lakeland regained the lead making it 18-15.
- The Muskies went on a 6-1 point run to increase the lead, 24-17.
- The Regents made a tremendous effort by scoring three straight points to narrow the gap, 24-20. Della Crain and Jacey Wilson dropping the hammer to keep the Regents alive.
- Lakeland took set one 25-20.
- The Muskies turned up the heat in the second set, scoring fourteen points and only allowing the Regents three points to make the score 14-3.
- A kill from Della Crain tried to keep the Regents within reach with a score of 18-10.
- Lakeland had a 7-1 point run at the end of the second set to win 25-11.
- Rockford came out sharp in the third set, scoring the first four points. Jessica Witkowski contributed with two scorching service aces.
- The Regents took advantage, keeping an 8-4 lead in the third set. A plethora of kills for the Regents came from Della Crain, Jacey Wilson, Jessica Witkowski, and Paige Carpenter.
- The lead was short lived as Lakeland took the offensive with a 12-2 point run, taking the 16-10 lead.
- Rockford showed fight as they went on a 5-2 point run, making the score 18-15. Della Crain recorded two kills along with Nicole Eggers one kill. Jessica Witkowski smashed another ace for the Regents.
- However, the Muskies downed the Regents 25-19 in the third set, winning the match 3-0.
The Rockford University women's volleyball team returns to the court on Tuesday, October 22 at Maranatha. The match has a scheduled start time of 7:00 PM.
