MADISON, Wis. - The Rockford University women's basketball team (1-8, 0-6 NACC) lost 78-29 on the road Saturday to the first-place Edgewood College Eagles (10-0, 5-0 NACC). The Eagles were in control of the game from the opening tip and never trailed the entire day. Edgewood led 22-11 at the end of first period, before taking a 23-point lead into the half. The Eagles extended their advantage to as many as 51 points in the second half en route to a 78-29 victory.
- The Eagles got off to a hot start, jumping out to an 11-2 less than four minutes into the first quarter.
- Fortunately, Rockford went on a 7-3 run over the next four minutes to cut the Eagle lead in half. Linzy Keller scorched the nets over that span, scoring all seven points, on a blistering 3-for-4 shooting.
- However, the Eagles closed the quarter strong, scoring eight of the final ten points, to take a 22-11 lead.
- Edgewood used a quick 8-0 spurt to start the second period, to extend their lead and seize control of the game. The Eagles would outscore the Regents 16-4 in the quarter, to take a 38-15 lead into the break.
- Unfortunately, things did not get any better in the second half. Edgewood outscored Rockford 40-14 over the final 20 minutes en route to a 78-29 win.
- Linzy Keller finished with a team-high 12 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist.
- Neve Yerk had a team-high 8 rebounds, 4 points, 2 assists and 2 blocks.
The RU women's basketball team returns to the court on Tuesday, December 17 at the University of Dubuque. Tip-off is set for 6:00 PM.
