Hot-Shooting Eagles Top Regents

MADISON, Wis. - The Rockford University women's basketball team (2-20, 2-16 NACC) fell 94-49 on the road Saturday afternoon to the Edgewood College Eagles (14-8, 11-6 NACC). The Eagles were on fire from start to finish, shooting 60.3% (41-of-68) from the field and 53.3% (8-of-15) from three-point range. Edgewood was especially deadly in the first half, shooting over 73% in each of the first two quarters. The hot-shooting allowed the Eagles to build a large lead early on that Rockford was never able to overcome.

  • The Regents were able to stay within striking distance in the opening moments. Linzy Keller (Machesney Park, Ill.) scored Rockford's first points of the game, followed by a triple off the hands of Emily Cox (Erie, Ill.), to make it a 10-5 Edgewood lead.
  • Unfortunately, Edgewood closed the quarter with a 23-7 run, to take a 33-12 lead into the second.
  • The Eagles led by as many as 36 points in the first half, before ultimately taking a 57-25 advantage into the break.
  • Rockford was unable to get any closer over the remaining 20 minutes and fell by a final score of 94-49.

  • Linzy Keller finished with a team-high 11 points, 7 rebounds and 1 assist.
  • Nicole Silvers (Byron, Ill.) added 10 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal.
  • Kaylynne Terry (Streator, Ill.) had 8 points, 3 steals, 2 rebounds and 1 block off the bench.

The RU women's basketball team returns to the court on Monday, February 11 at Maranatha Baptist University. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM in Watertown, Wisconsin.
