MEQUON, Wis. - The Rockford University football team (1-4, 0-3 NACC) dropped its second road game in as many weeks, this time by a score of 41-7, to the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons (4-1, 2-1 NACC). It was a tight game throughout the first quarter, with Rockford trailing just 13-7 after fifteen minutes of play. Unfortunately, the Falcons would outscore the Regents 28-0 over the final 45 minutes, including a 14-0 edge in the second quarter. Statistically the game was almost a dead heat. The Falcons had just 20 more yards of total offense (424-404) and one more first down (26-25). However, Rockford had a pair of turnovers compared to just one for CUW and also turned the ball over on downs twice during the game.
- The game got off to a fast start, with two touchdowns on the first three possessions.
- CUW would strike first with an 8-play, 60-yard drive, to grab a 6-0 lead. Falcon quarterback James Linn accounted for 59 yards through the air, including a 15-yard touchdown strike to Christian Booker. However, Rockford's Jordan Johnson blocked the point after to keep it a 6-0 game.
- Rockford would answer the Falcon touchdown with one of its own on the very next possession.
- The Regents needed just 3:31 and 10 plays to drive 75 yards and punch the ball into the end zone. Quarterback Jaelen Ray accounted for 47 of the 75 total yards, 23 through the air and 24 on the ground, including a 6-yard touchdown run. Gerardo Zamudio tacked on the extra point, to give Rockford an early 7-6 lead.
- Unfortunately, the Regents lead lasted just 11 seconds, as the Falcons returned the ensuing kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown. CUW would add the point after and retake the lead at 13-7.
- Rockford would have another scoring opportunity late in the first quarter, this one set up by the Regent defense. Amari Jackson intercepted a James Linn pass and returned it 30 yards to Falcon 40-yard line, to give Rockford excellent starting field position.
- The Regents were able to move the ball down into the red zone, but unfortunately, threw an interception at the goal line on fourth down and gave the ball back to the Falcons.
- CUW then scored touchdowns on its next two possessions to leap out in front 27-7. The Falcons used 12 plays to cover 83 yards on their first scoring drive and needed just 3 plays to cover 62 yards on the second touchdown drive.
- Rockford would get the ball back late in the second quarter, for one final drive before halftime. The Regents methodically moved the ball down the field with a well-balanced attack, rushing 9 times for 42 yards and throwing the ball 6 times for 35 yards. Rockford was able to get the ball all the way down to the Falcon 2-yard line, but unfortunately, fumbled on the 1-yard line, which was recorded in the end zone by the Falcons for touchback to end the half.
- CUW made it a 34-7 game with touchdown on its second drive of the third quarter. The Falcons went 70 yards on 7 plays, capped off with a 9-yard touchdown pass from James Linn to Tim Houlihan.
- It looked as though Rockford may answer right back with a touchdown of its own on its very next possession. The Regents once again methodically moved the ball down the field and converted on a trio of third downs along the way. Rockford would eventually find itself with a first and goal at the CUW 9-yard line. Unfortunately, Rockford's drive would once again stall, as the Regents turned the ball over on downs.
- The Falcons were able to tack on one final touchdown in the fourth quarter en route to a 41-7 victory.
- Jaelen Ray went 37-of-48 for 226 yards. He also ran the ball 7 times for 23 yards and 1 touchdown.
- LaVar Johnson Jr. ran the ball 19 times for 92 yards and caught 6 passes for 28 yards.
- Jack Carey added 9 rushes for 46 yards.
- Joey Owens caught 10 passes for 53 yards.
- Amari Jackson intercepted a pass and had 5 tackles.
- Ja'uan Joiner had 5 tackles and a pass breakup.
- Garrick MeGregor also had 5 tackles and a pass breakup.
