LISLE, Ill. - The Regents women's volleyball team (4-22, 1-12 NACC) concluded the NACC portion of its schedule with a 3-0 road loss to the Benedictine University Eagles (14-11, 9-3 NACC). Following a tough first set, the Regents and Eagles went toe-to-toe in the final two sets. Unfortunately, it was Benedictine who was able to pull away in the closing moments of each set and secure the 25-16, 25-20, 25-20 win. Statistically, the Eagles held a 40-25 advantage in kills and had a slim 47-44 edge in digs.
- Benedictine used a 12-4 run to begin the match and take an early eight-point lead.
- With the Eagles now out in front 16-7, the Regents scored five of the next six points, to make it 17-12. Rockford was led by a pair of kills from Nicole Eggers and a Jessica Witkowski service ace.
- Unfortunately, Benedictine responded with four straight points en route to taking the opening set 25-16.
- The Eagles again took an early lead in the second set, this time jumping out in front by a score of 10-5.
- However, the Regents promptly went on a 9-3 run to retake the lead at 14-13. Della Crain led the charge with a pair of kills, while Melody Moreno also smashed home a kill.
- The set continued its back and forth nature until the Eagles used a 5-1 run of their own, to take a 22-17 advantage.
- Rockford was able to get back within three points on two occasions, but unfortunately, Benedictine held on to win the second set 25-20 and take a 2-0 lead.
- The third set had a similar feel to it with Benedictine grabbing a 9-5 lead.
- Fortunately, the Regents responded with a 6-1 run, including scoring four straight points, to take their first lead of the set at 11-10. Rockford was led by two service aces from Brynn Atwell and a third from Jessica Witkowski.
- The set continued to go back and forth with each team stringing together runs of at three consecutive points, until the set was tied at 20-20.
- Unfortunately, Benedictine scored the final five points of the match, to take the set 25-20 and the match 3-0.
- Nicole Eggers led the RU attack with a team-high 10 kills and a .300 hitting percentage. She also added 2 digs, 2 blocks and a service ace.
- Della Crain had 7 kills and 2 blocks.
- Brynn Atwell finished with a team-high 15 digs and 3 aces.
- Melody Moreno tallied 10 digs and 4 kills.

The RU women's volleyball team is back home for a pair of matches on Friday, October 29. The Regents open with Grace Christian at 3 PM and North Central University at 7 PM in the Seaver Center.
