Caitlin Bitunjac Earns All-NACC Status to Help Rockford Place Ninth

MEQUON, Wis. - The Rockford University cross country teams competed at the 2021 NACC Championship early today at Concordia University Wisconsin. Freshman Caitlin Bitunjac stole the show for the Regents on Saturday. Bitunjac finished in 15th place and was named All-NACC for her outstanding performance. Marcus Porchia, Ryan Sweeney and Enrique Perez all also ran well, with each setting new personal record. The RU women's team finished in 9th place, its highest finish since 2017, and the men's team did not have enough runners record a team score.

Women's Team
  • Caitlin Bitunjac capped off her incredible freshman season with yet another outstanding performance. Bitunjac finished in 15th place with a new personal best time of 24:46.36 and became the first RU women's cross country runner since 2014 (Barbara Duffy) to receive All-NACC status. Her time of 24:46.36 was also the fifth fastest time since the RU cross country program was restarted in 2004. 
  • Li McQueeny crossed the finish line in 29:24.10 and finished in 75th place.
  • Nopparat Chiangtong finished in 90th place with a time of 33:41.81.
  • Alexia Sellards crossed the finish line in 33:48.65 to place 91st. 
  • Victoria Folmar finished in 92nd place with a time of 33:57.12.
  • Abigail Wagner completed the 6k race in 34:00.09 to finish in 93rd place.
Men's Team
  • Marcus Porchia was the top RU men's cross country performer on Saturday. Porchia finished in 78th place and set a new personal record with a time of 31:23.77.
  • Ryan Sweeney crossed the finish line with a personal best time of 31:30.41 and finished in 79th place.
  • Christopher Duron Jr. placed 99th with a time of 35:51.39.
  • Enrique Perez set a new personal best time in the 8k race by over a minute, when he crossed the finish line in 36:17.53 to finish in 100th place.
