ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's basketball team (2-0) won in convincing fashion against state-line rival Beloit College (1-2) in the team's home opener 62-41. Both teams struggled offensively, but Rockford played very strong perimeter defense to hold Beloit to 9.1 percent from the three-point line to keep themselves ahead for the full length of the game.
Micah Swanson was the man to watch, recording a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, both team-highs. Rockford got the lead and never gave it back in the team's first home game of the season, winning 62-41.
- A very fast start by Rockford quickly put the score at 9-0 to start the game. Brandon Emerick knocked down three free throws to help the run.
- Beloit got on the board after four minutes passed in the game but struggled through the first half to make up the Rockford lead.
- After the first Beloit score, the Regents built up a lead 19-8, Micah Swanson leading in scoring with 4 points during the run.
- With just under ten minutes to go in the first half, Beloit got on a 7-0 run to pull within nine points at 22-13.
- Charles Burnell hit a three-pointer with 7:18 to go, and the Regents never looked back, concluding the half on a 14-4 run with five different Regents recording points, the leader was TJ Lacey with four. Rockford led the game at halftime 33-17.
- Rockford and Beloit traded points in the start of the second, going back and forth 9-8. The Regents were relying heavily on the three-point shot, taking seven of eleven shots from beyond the arc.
- RU took its first 20-point lead on a layup from Jaden Bell to make the score 47-27.
- Beloit's Michael Polakoski traded points with Micah Swanson with a little over six minutes left in the game. Swanson scored a layup and was followed up by Polakoski hitting the first three pointer of the game for Beloit, followed by another Swanson layup, followed by another Polakoski three-pointer. The score stood at 56-37.
- The last five minutes of the game had ten points split between the two teams, six for Rockford and four for Beloit, on the way to the final horn of the game.
- Ethan Ackerman hit a three-point shot to seal the deal and take the victory, the Regents won their home opener 62-41.
- Micah Swanson earned a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Swanson led the team in field goal percentage shooting 58.3 percent. He also had 2 assists.
- Brandon Emerick had 5 rebounds and 10 points to go with his team-high 5 assists and 6 steals.
- Jaden Bell recorded 6 points with 7 rebounds and 4 steals of his own.
- Nick Phillips hit 3 3-pointers for all 9 of his points.

The RU men's basketball team heads back on the road to Loras for a November 13th game against the Duhawks. The game time is set for 6:00pm in Dubuque.
