APPLETON, Wis. - The Rockford University women's basketball team (2-1) fell for the first time this season on Saturday afternoon, 77-57 on the road to the Lawrence University Vikings (2-1). It was a difficult day for Rockford in its first road game of the season. The Regents shot just 32.8% from the floor, compared to 41.1% for the Vikings. However, Rockford did outshoot Lawrence from three-point range (35.7%-28.6%). The Vikings also controlled the glass, outrebounding Rockford 49-31 and had a big edge in points off turnovers (27-13). Despite all of that, Rockford was able to stay within striking distance until midway through the second half, when the Vikings pulled away for the victory.
- Rockford played very well in the opening moments of the first quarter.Â
- Audrina Terhune scored the game's first points and Anaya Davis followed with a triple, to give Rockford a quick 5-0 lead at the 7:28 mark.Â
- The Vikings would cut the lead down to three, before Davis banked in a layup to put her team back up five at 10-5, with 5:28 left in the first quarter.Â
- Unfortunately, Lawrence closed the quarter on a 10-0 run, to take a 15-10 advantage into the second.Â
- Lawrence would build its lead up to as many as 15 points midway through the second quarter.Â
- However, Rockford used a 12-6 run late in the first half, to make it a nine-point game with just over a minute remaining. Audrina Terhune and Evelyn Abundes each chipped in five points to lead the charge.
- The Vikings were able to tack on a pair of free throws in the closing seconds, to take a 38-27 lead into halftime.
- The Viking lead bounced back and forth between nine and eleven points in the opening minutes of the second half, until Lawrence scored nine straight points to take a 49-31 advantage.Â
- Lawrence would push its lead to as many as 21 points, before taking a 59-41 lead into the fourth quarter.Â
- Rockford hit its first four shots of the fourth quarter and cut the deficit down to just 12 points. Kiara Stevens and Audrina Terhune drained back-to-back triples, and then Stevens connected on a fast break layup off a Viking turnover, to make it a 61-49 game.Â
- Unfortunately, Lawrence went on to outscore Rockford 16-8 over the remainder of the game en route to the 77-57 win.Â
- Audrina Terhune led all scorers with a season-high 20 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 block. Terhune has scored in double-figures in all three games thus far this season.
- Anaya Davis added 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block.Â
- Evelyn Abundes finished with 8 points and was a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. She also added 3 rebounds.Â

The RU women's basketball team is back at home on Tuesday, November 16 against the University of Dubuque. Tip-off is set for 7 PM in the Seaver Center.Â
