MADISON, Wis. - The Rockford University men's basketball team (7-3, 2-2 NACC) fell victim to a hot Edgewood Eagles (3-5, 2-1 NACC) team 98-79. Edgewood came in on a two-game winning streak after an 0-5 start and was able to shoot a very strong 55.3 percent from the field. Because of the soaring Eagles offense, Rockford was behind for the majority of the game. Rockford's
Micah Swanson was however able to keep the Regents within striking distance for a chunk of the game, as he recorded his third straight double-double and led Rockford in both scoring (25) and rebounding (10).
- Rockford and Edgewood traded points for the first eight minutes of play until the score reached 14-12. Micah Swanson carried the Regents early, recording 8 of the first 12 points.
- Edgewood took over the next 3 minutes and 23 seconds, going on a 13-2 run. The Regents struggled, shooting 0-7, only able to score off of two free throws.
- RU did respond however, securing its own 16-9 run, DJ Bonds leading the scoring with six points of his own during the run.
- The first half concluded on an 8-2 run in favor of the Eagles, the score at the first half buzzer sitting at 44-32.
- The Eagles came out of the first half on fire, unable to miss a shot for the first five minutes of the second half, shooting 9-9 from the field on a 21-11 run to make the score 65-43.
- It seemed the Eagles had then hit a cold streak, as the Regents responded with eleven straight points, Ashton Singleton hitting a three-pointer and Micah Swanson scoring 4 during the run.
- Both teams then stayed hot for the next two minutes of play, only missing a combined one shot between the two sides, Edgewood leading 75-61.
- The final seven minutes of play were back and forth, neither side giving in, but holding out was all Edgewood needed, securing the win at the final horn, 98-79.
- Micah Swanson secured his third-straight double-double, scoring a season-high 25 points and securing 10 rebounds. He also recorded a block and a steal.
