LISLE, Ill. - The Regents (7-4, 6-2) had their five-game winning streak snapped on Saturday following an 80-57 loss at Benedictine University (9-3, 6-2 NACC). The Regents and Eagles will now share the 2020-21 NACC South Division Title. Fortunately, the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference has announced that after going through all the tie-breaking procedures, Rockford will be the No. 1 seed in its half of the conference tournament. Thus the Regents will host Concordia University Chicago in the opening round of the NACC Tournament on Wednesday, March 3 in the Seaver Center. This will be Rockford's first home game in postseason play since February 27, 2009 when the Regents hosted Wisconsin Lutheran College in the semifinals.
- The opening moments of the game went back-and-forth with both teams holding the lead at various points.
- Following an Eagle bucket to begin the game, Rockford used an 8-2 run over a span of 2:06 to grab a quick 8-4 advantage. Brandon Emerick opened and closed the run with a pair of jumpers, while Kevin Diemer connected on a pair of layups in-between.
- However, Benedictine scored the next six points to retake the lead at 10-8.
- About one minute later, Kivontay Shaw splashed home a triple to give Rockford its final lead of the game with 13:23 remaining in the first half.
- With Rockford down just a single point after a Daelyn Franklin triple at the 6:16 mark, the Eagles went on a 9-0 run over the next 3:24 to build their largest lead thus far at 33-23.
- The Regents were able to outscore Benedictine by a 5-2 margin over the remainder of the half and entered the break trailing 35-28.
- After both the Regents and Eagles scored a bucket on their opening possessions of the second half, Benedictine went on a 13-4 run to take a 15-point lead.
- Unfortunately, Rockford was never able to get back within single-digits for the remainder of the night and fell by a final score of 80-57.
- Kevin Diemer recorded his fifth double-double in the last six games with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
- Brandon Emerick added 9 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. With his one steal, Emerick is now the Rockford University all-time leader with 186 career steals.
- Nick Phillips finished with 6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.
