CHICAGO, Ill. - The Rockford University women's soccer team (0-1-0) fell 2-0 to open its season on Friday at North Park University (1-0-1). The Vikings opened the match with four shots on goal in the first fourteen minutes. Two of those shots found the back of the net, as North Park jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage. Rockford had a couple of chances to score throughout the remainder of the match, but unfortunately, came up empty.
- North Park's Ida Elise Hjelle broke the scoreless tie in the 12th minute of the match with her first goal of the season, off a double assist from Agnes Bohlin and Lynn Nordqvist.
- The Vikings would extend their lead to 2-0 exactly two and a half minutes later. This time it was Agnes Bohlin who found the back of the net off an assist from Ida Elise Hjelle.
- The Regents continued to battle and had a scoring opportunity of their own in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, Rianna Tovar's shot was stopped by the Viking goalie, to keep it a 2-0 North Park lead heading into the half.
- Rockford had one more scoring chance in the 65th minute of the match, but was once again denied, when Samara Tanchuck's shot was stopped by the North Park keeper.
- Unfortunately, Rockford was unable to create any additional scoring chances the remainder of the evening and fell by a final score of 2-0.
- Goalie Elizabeth Elison did an outstanding job in her first match as a Regent. Elison kept her team within striking distance throughout the evening and finished with a match-high 12 saves.
- Rianna Tovar tallied a team-high three shots, including one shot on goal.
- Samara Tanchuck had two shots and Rockford's other shot on goal.

The RU women's soccer team returns to the field on Thursday, September 9 at home against Eureka College. The match has a scheduled start time of 7 PM at Wedgbury Stadium.
