ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team (1-1-0) fell 3-0 on road Saturday night to the Augustana College Vikings (1-1-0). Saturday night marked the first time Rockford was both shut out and surrendered a goal this season. Augustana's Jarrett Baumgartner nearly single-handedly led the Vikings to victory. Baumgartner scored all three Viking goals and recorded the first hat-trick of the year for either team.
- Despite being shutout, Rockford had the first shot on goal of the match, coming in the ninth minute. Pedro Acosta fired a shot at the bottom center of the goal, but the Augustana keeper came up with the save to keep the match scoreless.
- The match remained scoreless until the 27th minute when Jarrett Baumgartner found the back of the net to give his team a 1-0 lead.
- Rockford had one more chance late in the first half to knot the match, but Alberto Rivera's shot toward the top half of the net was turned away by the Vikings and sent the match into the half with Augustana clinging to a 1-0 advantage.
- Unfortunately, the Vikings got off to a quick start in the second half. Baumgartner scored his second goal of the match in the 48th minute and extended Augustana's lead to 2-0.
- The match would remain 2-0 until the 76th minute when Baumgartner tallied his third goal of the evening and secured the 3-0 Viking win.

The RU men's soccer team returns to competition on Thursday, September 9 at Cornell College. The match has a scheduled start time of 5 PM.
