MEQUON, Wis. - The Rockford University men's soccer team earned a hard-fought draw on the road Saturday afternoon against Concordia University Wisconsin. Although the Regents never led in the match, Rockford answered each Falcon goal with one of its own. The most crucial of them came in the 84th minute, when
Abraham Gonzalez scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season to tie the match at 2-2. Each team had one shot on goal over the final 6 minutes, but both schools came up empty, as the match ended in a draw.
- CUW's Nick Hummel broke the scoreless tie in the 32nd minute, as the Falcons took a 1-0 lead into the half.
- However, Rockford's Matt Polovin tied the match just 59 seconds into the second half. It was Polovin's second goal of the season and he was assisted by Joshua De Avila on the play.
- The score remained unchanged for nearly 30 minutes, until Jacob Fuson found the back of the net for the first time this year and gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
- Fortunately, Abraham Gonzalez came through for the Regents once again. Gonzalez beat the CUW keeper at the 83:42 mark to tie the match at 2-2.
- Neither team was able to capitalize on their shot attempts over the final six minutes, as the match finished in a draw.
- Abraham Gonzalez finished with 4 shots, all of which were on goal, and his team-leading sixth goal of the season. He is now tied for 7th in the NACC with six goals.
- Matt Polovin took just 1 shot, but it was a on target and resulted in his second goal of the season.
- Joshua De Avila had a shot on goal and an assist in the match.
- Gustavo Lazcano tallied 12 saves for the Regents. Lazcano's 60 saves now leads the NACC by a wide margin. He is also third in the NACC with .779 save percentage.
