PLYMOUTH, Wis. - The Rockford University football team fell 70-21 on the road to the Lakeland University Muskies to wrap up its season on Saturday afternoon. Rockford actually led 7-0 midway through the first quarter, but Lakeland proceeded to score the next 28 points and never looked back. The Muskies held edges in basically every statistical category including, total yards (572-342), rushing yards (216-114), passing yards (356-228), first downs (29-18) and takeaways (4-1).
- Following punts by both teams to start the game, Rockford's Will Havens forced a Muskie fumble and Nassir Lamarre recovered it at the RU 45-yard line.
- The RU offense promptly marched the ball 55 yards on 9 plays and scored the game's first touchdown.Â
- Jaelen Ray capped of the drive with a 2-yard touchdown run, and Kaden Finnestad tacked on the point after to give the Regents a 7-0 lead.Â
- Lakeland then scored touchdowns on its next four possessions to take a commanding 28-7 lead with 13:02 left in the second quarter.Â
- The Regents were able to cut into the deficit on their next drive with a touchdown of their own.Â
- Rockford went 60 yards on 9 plays and found the end zone for the second time in the game. Jaelen Ray connected with Emani Johnson on a 21-yard touchdown strike, to make it a 28-14 game.
- However, the Muskies added a pair of touchdowns over the final 8:11 to take a 42-14 lead into the half.
- It seemed as through Rockford might make things interesting in the second half, after scoring on the opening possession of the third quarter.Â
- Quarterback Jaelen Ray orchestrated an impressive 90-yard touchdown drive, capped off by a 5-yard run by Kyle Thompson to make it 42-21.Â
- Unfortunately, it was not meant to be, as the Muskies outscored the Regents 28-0 the remainder of the way, sealing a 70-21 win. Â
- Jaelen Ray finished 23-of-45Â for 224Â yards and 1 passing touchdown. He also added a touchdown on the ground.Â
- Jack Carey carried the ball 22Â times for 99Â yards. He also had 6Â receptions for 42Â yards.
- Kyle Thompson had 24Â yards rushing and 1 touchdown.Â
- Joey Owens caught 6 passes for 76Â yards.
- Emani Johnson caught 3Â passes for 36 yards and one touchdown.Â
- Miguel Delvalle Jr. led the team with 9 tackles including 1 tackle for loss.Â
- Curtis Hosea finished with 4Â tackles and a pair of sacks.Â
- Will Havens tallied 7 tackles and a forced fumble.Â
- Jarrett Redmond had 4 tackles, including 2 tackles for loss and a sack.Â
