ELSAH, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team fell in a heartbreaker 58-57 on the road Tuesday at Principia College. The Regents fell behind by as many as ten points in the first half, but outscored Principia 20-11 in third and took a two-point advantage into the fourth. Unfortunately, the Panthers were able to seal the 58-57 win at the free throw line over the final minute of play. Two key stats in the game were turnovers and points off turnovers. Rockford turned the ball over 25 times, which led to 24 Panther points. Conversely, Principia turned the ball over 19 times but the Regents were only able to score nine points off those turnovers.
- Principia got off to a hot start in the opening moments and jumped out to a quick 8-3 lead.
- The Regents would respond with an 8-2 run of their own and retake the lead at 11-10. Audrina Terhune led the Rockford charge with five of the eight points.
- Unfortunately, the Panthers scored the next eight points to take the largest lead thus far for either team at 18-11.
- Principia built its lead up to as many as a game-high ten points, before ultimately taking a 33-26 advantage into the break.
- Rockford came roaring out of the gates in the second half, scoring the first eight points and retaking the lead at 34-33 with 5:45 left in the third quarter.
- The Regents were able to build their lead up to as many as four points off a Tyra Clark three-point play, before heading into the fourth quarter with a 46-44 advantage.
- With the game now tied at 50-50, Principia scored the next four points to jump in front 54-50 with 2:42 remaining in regulation.
- Rockford was able to trim the deficit to just a single point after a pair of made free throws by Audrina Terhune with 30 seconds left.
- The Regents then fouled and the Panthers went 1-of-2 at the free throw line, as they clung to a 56-54 advantage.
- Unfortunately, Rockford missed a layup with eight seconds left and Principia proceeded to make both of its free throws en route the 58-57 win.
- Audrina Terhune led the Regents with a season-high 18 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.
- Tyra Clark recorded Rockford's first double-double of the season. Clark tallied 13 points, a season-high 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.
- Katie Paredes finished with 8 points, a season-high 10 rebounds, 2 assists, a block and a steal.
- Kyla Wilkerson added a season-high 9 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
