MEQUON, Wis. - The Rockford University men's basketball team fell 90-79 on the road Saturday afternoon to the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons. Rockford held a 52-50 advantage at the half, but scored just 27 points in the second half, allowing the Falcons to pull away late in the game. For the second consecutive NACC game, the Regents hot shooting cooled off over the final 20 minutes of play. Rockford shot 48.8% (20-of-41) from the floor and 47.4% (9-of-19) from three-point range in the first half, compared to only 39.3% (11-of-28) and 18.2% (2-of-11) in the second half. Conversely, the Falcons improved upon their 58.3%/22.2% shooting performances from the field/three-point line in the first half to 60.0%/45.5% efforts in the second half.
- The game was very close and competitive for the vast majority of the afternoon, as there were a total of 12 lead changes and 7 ties.
- Rockford opened the day on an 8-4 run led by three points from both Micah Swanson and Zac Centers.
- CUW responded with nine straight points to take its largest lead of the first half at 13-8 with 16:31 remaining.
- With the game now tied at 19-19, The Regents scored five straight points, led by a Zac Centers triple, to grab a 5-point led at the 12:29 mark.
- The two schools continued to go back and forth for the remainder of the half, with neither team able to take control of the game.
- With 1:55 left and Rockford clinging to a 1-point advantage, the Regents scored five straight points, capped off by another Zac Centers triple, to give Rockford its largest lead of the game.
- However, the Falcons would score the final four points of the half, as Rockford entered the break leading 52-50.
- CUW then opened the second half on a 9-4 run to retake the lead at 59-56.
- The back and forth nature of the game continued with the Regents scoring five of the next seven points, and tying the game at 61-61 on Zac Centers' fourth three-pointer of the day.
- With Rockford now trailing by just two at 72-70 with 11:05 left in the game, the Falcons scored the next seven points to take the largest lead of the game thus far for either team.
- Unfortunately, Rockford scored just nine points over the final 11 minutes of the game, as the Falcons went on to win by a final score of 90-79.
