ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's basketball team (13-7, 7-6 NACC) grabbed an important NACC home win against Dominican University (2-18, 1-13 NACC) 92-67. The Regents only lost the lead once very early in the game but never had any doubt while leading the remainder of the game. The Rockford bench came through heavily for a second-straight game, contributing 47 points compared to Dominican's 12. With the support off the bench, the Regents were tough to clear out of the paint, winning the points in the paint battle 58-38. The defense held its own as well, forcing Dominican into 22 turnovers and holding Dominican to 13.6 percent shooting from the three-point line, the Stars second-worst of the season.
DJ Bonds was the main contributor for the Regents. He came off the bench to score a team-high 19 points while grabbing 8 rebounds and 4 assists to help RU.
- Charles Burnell and TJ Lacey got the scoring started for the Regents on a 6-0 run, Burnell with 4 and Lacey with 2.
- Dominican followed up the run with seven straight points to take the Stars one and only lead of the game.
- The two sides traded points for the next 3:35 of play to work the score to 15-15.
- The Regents took off immediately following the tie, scoring 15 unanswered points on the backs of Brandon Emerick with seven and Zac Centers with six.
- RU built the lead to 20 points (41-21) with 3:23 to play, but Dominican finished the half on a 9-2 run to only give Rockford a 13-point lead heading into the break with the score at 43-30.
- The second half started with both sides trading baskets, but Rockford was slowly climbing back to the 20-point lead the Regents had earlier. They achieved it with 8:31 left in the second half when TJ Lacey hit a three-pointer to put the score at 69-48 after a 16-7 run.
- The Stars and Regents battled back and forth as the clock continued to run until the end of the game. RU went on a 10-4 run to end the game, taking the team's biggest lead of the game at 28 with the score at 92-64.
- Dominican hit one final three-pointer before the buzzer to bring the final score to 92-67.
- DJ Bonds led in scoring with 19, he also grabbed 8 rebounds and recorded 4 assists.
- TJ Lacey scored 14 points, secured 5 rebounds, and finished with 2 steals.
- Micah Swanson pulled in a team-high 9 rebounds and scored 7 points.
- Brandon Emerick had the team high in assists with 5 and also scored 11 points.

The RU men's basketball team takes a short break and then will head to Aurora to face the Spartans. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm on February 9th.
