LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team faced a very tough battle against MSOE in a midday clash at Wedgebury Stadium. MSOE ended with the victory 2-1, but Rockford did not make it easy for them. The Regents lost in the shot category 20-5 and only had two shots on goal, but they made one count thanks to a goal off a volley from
Joshua De Avila in the 13th minute to equalize the game. MSOE scored one more in the 75th minute that ended up winning the Raiders the match after the final whistle.
- MSOE got going very early, scoring shortly after kickoff. A long ball played into the box was chipped and put in over goalkeeper Gustavo Lazcano to open the scoring at 1-0.
- It was a short-lived lead however, A free ball bouncing just inside the box was struck by Joshua De Avila and put in the right side of the net to equalize the match in the 14th minute.
- The two sides each looked for a second goal, and MSOE captured it in the 75th minute with a cross that met the head of MSOE's Kilian Oelrich, scoring the game-winner.
- MSOE controlled the ball a majority of the remaining time and ran out the clock to secure the 2-1 victory.
